112 Steakhouse Road Race#3 - RESULTS
The third One Twelve Steakhouse road race enticed a good turnout of 3 person teams and individuals to test their form in a 2 stage event. The singles set off first on the 20km flat time trial followed by the teams which included the Salmon Arm boys and team fixie hipster whose speed on their fixies was even more impressive than their dashing attire. Despite Stuart Smith trying to derail his team’s performance by missing the start and later running teammate Dave Healey off the road, Smith, Healey and Rich Hamilton posted the fastest time with Kellen Viznaugh and Bart Jarmula the leading individuals.Stage 2 (a steep hill climb) followed and this time the individuals had the advantage as the teams had to use their heavier time trial bikes for the hill climb. After a frantic start Viznaugh established and maintained a clear lead with Smith edging second from Chris Bovard. Bovard was just ahead of Hamilton who seemed remarkably strong having just suffered the trauma of riding 20 intense kilometers with Smith and Healey on their aero bikes apparently not caring Hamilton was on his normal road bike.VIznaugh’s hill climb time was good enough to take the overall victory from team Hamilton/Healey/Smith. Emily Suchy flew the flag for the ladies with strong performances in both stages.Click here for Time Trial ResultsClick here for Hill Climb ResultsThe last of the spring road race series is on Wednesday, June 10th – check the website for details nearer the time.
