Mountain Biking & the "New Normal"
Updated June 27, 2020
We're lucky to have some amazing trails in our backyard, and even luckier to be part of such an amazing and supportive cycling community. Longer days, sunny weather, and prime riding conditions are abundant at this time. With the move into Phase 3 of BC's re-opening plan, we look forward to welcoming visitors back to Revelstoke and to our trails. We encourage everyone to follow the BC provincial government's recommended public health guidelines in preventing the spread of Covid-19.Many businesses are now operating with new precautions in place. The "new normal" is a big change from the "old normal", and we would like to remind all riders that this is also the case with mountain biking. Please consider the following guidelines in your riding activities:
To avoid crowding in parking lots, ride to the trails whenever possible or choose to park at alternative locations (ie. Boulder snowmobile lots and Macpherson Nordic Lodge)
If you do drive, avoid carpooling to the trail with people outside of your immediate household.
Avoid riding, shuttling, and tailgate mingling with a large number of people. Keep your riding posse to the same household and/or social "bubble".
Leave a minimum of two metres spacing between yourself and others outside of your "bubble"; give other trail users plenty of room when passing or at trail junctions.
Engage in low risk activities. For mountain biking, this means staying well within your comfort zone and riding features you are familiar with.
These are just a few of the steps you can take to look out for yourself and others in this "new normal".Currently, the Sunnyside, Boulder Mountain, and MacPherson trail networks are all open. The Frisby Alpine XC trail remains closed until July 15 to protect endangered mountain caribou herds. Revelstoke Mountain Resort is open for gondola-accessed mountain biking as of June 26.
