Mount Cartier
July 2021 Update: The Mount Cartier Upper trail is closed to BOTH bikers and hikers at this time due to an unsafe bridge structure with NO alternative routes around this crossing. Please keep off this trail until this maintenance issue is resolved.
Please note: Although the RCA highly recommends this trail for a rad time, we do not manage this trail. This trail is managed by Recreation Sites & Trails BC.The first 2.5 km of this trail to the lookout is a great but tough early-season cross country ride, as it is one of the first to melt out in the spring. Beyond the lookout, the trail is a long and difficult hike-a-bike to the summit 2,000 vertical metres above. The hardiest of riders are riding/pushing to the summit, while those willing to spend the money can get a heli-drop at the top, or a guided heli tour for an arm burning 2,000m, 15 km descent. This trail is also ascended by hikers so please watch for them and slow down to yield.
Access From Revelstoke:- Head south on Airport Way for 10 km until you see the brown trailhead sign on the east side of the road. Park in the available parking spaces.
