Jeff Ferguson and Chris Argue: Pre-race strategizing or trash-talking?

The race began with a short climb up Beaver Lake Road with Kellen Viznaugh sprinting hard to get onto the single track of Toad School ahead of the crowd. Brendan MacIntosh, Bart Jarmula, and Matt Pelletier (of Golden) gave chase but a mechanical issue took Bart out of the race. MacIntosh caught up to Viznaugh near the end of Berm Donor then battled for the lead up the gruelling Hydro Cut climb. Unfortunately, Viznaugh fell victim to tire problems and that left Pelletier chasing MacIntosh around the circuit for the second lap but he couldn't catch the winner, Brendan MacIntosh. Meanwhile Brad "Cookie" Christie was doing battle with Chris Argue for third place and closing the gap to Pelletier. Cookie crossed the line ahead of Argue and secured third place. In the women's field Emily Unterberger handily outpaced the rest of the ladies for the win. Meghan Tabor's strong and steady pace kept her ahead of the next two competitors Amanda MacIntosh, and Marcy Bennett who were engaged in a race for third place with MacIntosh pulling ahead of Bennett in the second lap. Thanks to all the participants and keep an eye on the website for details of the next XC Race.
