Falling on Boulder!

Riders - please be aware!

Falling will begin next Tuesday Oct 11 on the 5ha fir bark beetle patch on Boulder.

Unfortunately there is another area of Fir Bark beetle attacked forest within Woodlot #0461 on Boulder.  Stella-Jones will be salvage harvesting this area this fall to limit the spread of the Fir Bark beetle.  It is estimated that harvesting will occur between Oct 15 and Nov 15, however, a more concrete start date will be determined closer to the time.  The beetle infested area is about 5ha and surrounds the lower 800m section of the “Bike Club” trail.  The lower section of the “Bike Club” trail will be closed during this time and until it has been appropriately rehabilitated.  Stella-Jones has discussed the salvage harvest plans with the Revelstoke Cycling Association, the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club, the Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resource Operations, and Recreation Sites and Trails BC.  Collectively we will be working to minimize impacts to the different user groups.  Stella-Jones will work in conjunction with the Revelstoke Cycling Association and Recreation Sites and Trails BC to determine the best rehabilitation plan for the lower section of the “Bike Club” trail post harvest.  If you have any further questions, please contact Stella-Jones at 250-833-4414.

Peter Mair from Stella-Jones will be in charge.  If you have any questions, please contact him at pmair@stella-jones.com.
